Stand on Alessia's balcony at sunset. In the distance, a hologram burns. Nine scenes, each a different world projected against the same Winchester sky.

Drifting islands suspended in the evening sky, lit by the last gold of sunset. The original Alessia's Balcony hologram. Free, on us.

A holographic rock show explodes in the distance, complete with audio. Lively auto-mutes when other windows are active, so the music only plays when your desktop is in view.

Galaxies and nebulae bloom against the night, projected over the balcony as if Alessia opened a window to the cosmos.

An aurora dances over a frozen plain, suspended above the balcony rail. Cold light against warm stone.

A dim, smoky club in the distance, lit by pulse and laser. Same balcony, a different mood.

A coliseum carved in light, two figures circling. The most theatrical of the series.

A futuristic sport thunders in a neon arena, holographic athletes mid-clash, complete with audio. The most kinetic of the series.

A holographic starscape opens above the balcony: ships glide across nebulae, the city falls quiet, a sci-fi score swells underneath. The most cinematic of the series.

A celestial host descends in golden light over the balcony at sunset, scored with 'The Army of Minotaur' by Makai Symphony. The most cinematic addition to the series.

Floating Islands is free. The other five hologram scenes are $0.99 each. Each download is a zip with the wallpaper, lock screen image, and concert-mode scripts.
Drag the .mp4 onto Lively, set a title and thumbnail, click the new tile. Your desktop is alive.
A zip with: the animated wallpaper video (MP4), a matching thumbnail, a Windows lock screen image at 1080p and 720p, two one-click "Concert Mode" scripts that hide and restore your desktop icons, plus a styled README and plain-text setup guide. About 12-30 MB depending on the scene.
Yes. Lively is the engine that plays the video as your desktop background. It's free, signed, open-source, and lives on the Microsoft Store. It handles multi-monitor, pauses on fullscreen apps to save GPU, and lets you mute audio per-wallpaper. Install once, then any Living Desktop just drops in.
Lively auto-pauses video playback the moment you open a fullscreen app (games, video players, presentations). It can also auto-pause on battery. Idle GPU draw with a video wallpaper is typically a few percent.
Most scenes are silent. The Rock Concert scene has audio - Lively auto-mutes when you have any other window in foreground, so the music only plays when your desktop is actually in view. You can also right-click the wallpaper in Lively to mute it permanently.
Current scenes are 720p source, optimised for 1080p displays. On a 4K monitor they will look soft. A 4K master series is planned.
Windows 11 only for now, since Lively is Windows-native. For macOS, the closest equivalent is plock or a custom Wallpaper Engine port - we may build a Mac version later.
The rest of the hologram series is in final testing. Subscribe at roarofwinchester.com to hear when each one drops, or email [email protected] with the scene you want first and we'll prioritise it.
